Offering speech pathology and occupational therapy at our Windsor office and across Brisbane, our team of passionate allied health therapists empower our customers of all ages and abilities to live the life they want.
The Mamre approach to allied health
Community-based
We get to know each person and:
-
who is their network of supporters
-
what is important to them
-
what are their unique goals.
Then we work alongside them to bring these elements to life!
Relationship-focus
Customers have the option to include the people most important to them – whether that's a parent, educator, carer, family, friends or support workers –in their therapy sessions.
We've also developed an online relationship-based therapy course, Connect Play Learn. This assists parents, therapists and people who support children with developmental delay to use this well-regarded approach.
Real experiences
Lived experience and neuro-affirming ways of working are key pillars of our approach. We also keep up-to-date with the latest in evidence-based ways of working and practise informed learning.
Supported decision-making
We use a supported decision-making approach, which upholds the rights of each person to be involved in decisions about their life. Mamre has begun an exciting whole-of-organisation development program in partnership with Dr Michelle Browning from Decision Agency. Mamre was a partner in an innovative three-year project that assisted people with complex communication access needs and their supporters to be more involved in decisions in their life.
Local therapy rooms with state-of-the-art equipment
Our Windsor office in Brisbane has four large, purpose-built therapy rooms that enable our allied health therapists to offer engaging and interactive sessions in a convenient location.
The therapy rooms contain state-of-the-art equipment and resources from toys and sensory items to giant beanbags and egg chairs. As a result of several successful grant applications, we regularly add new items.
Allied health therapy across Brisbane
As well as therapy at Windsor, our team provides community visit days to offer high-quality therapy in a way that is best suited to the customer and in a range of locations. This includes sessions at a café, park, home, kindy, school or work – wherever the customer feels comfortable.
Experienced speech pathologists and occupational therapists
Mamre is proud of our collaborative and enthusiastic therapists who bring a depth and range of experience to our Allied Health service. A supportive environment provides development opportunities to shadow each other, sit it on each other's sessions, facilitate therapy groups together, provide peer mentoring, and share knowledge and resources.
Drawing on their specialist knowledge of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), assistive technology, Functional Capacity Assessments and more, some of our team members regularly present at conferences and support customers to be presenters as well.
Mamre's Executive Director, Capacity Building, who leads the Allied Health service, is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist. Our therapists benefit from her high-level clinical guidance, oversight and support. There's also administrative staff so the team can focus on providing often life-enriching therapy.
The Allied Health service has gone from strength to strength since its creation. With a strong, evidence-informed approach and a wonderful mix of customers, therapists and office staff, it’s a great team to be a part of and to work with.
