FAMILY PORTAL

Overview

Mamre has started rolling out conflict management and physical intervention training in acknowledgement that at times, individuals, families or service providers may need strategies in crises, or situations with varying degrees of complexity.

Conflict management offers information and guidance to take the lead and train amongst your teams. In line with Mamre’s values, conflict management takes a positive approach, looking at how we can adjust our professional interactions and the surroundings to make a happier and stable environment for everyone. This is not only relevant to the workplace, but also in our day-to-day lives through interactions with our family, work colleagues or members of the public. This training promotes the need for positivity and understanding, and helps nurture and develop resilience by exploring factors that drive conflict and develop ways to effectively intervene and facilitate positive outcomes, even in emotive or high conflict situations.

High conflict situations include scenarios where staff or families are being confronted with colleagues, supported individuals/family members who are intimidating or aggressive due to anxiety or communication problems.

High conflict management/Physical intervention training takes into consideration restrictive practices and positive behaviour support plans, placing emphasis on the reduction of physical intervention by continuous analysis and improvement of an individual’s environment, resulting in greater social inclusion and a higher quality of life. We delve into the individual’s reactions, what contributes to behaviour of concern; whether it be environment, communication, physical, psychological, emotional, social factors etc. and support you to better understand how your individual reactions to such situations can influence positive outcomes. Participants are trained in strategies that empower them to be confident and constructively influence these situations in a safe and controlled manner.
