On behalf of Mamre, Disability Law Queensland has developed a suite of resources to assist people with intellectual impairments to develop the capacity to:
a. Understand what a will and/or enduring power of attorney is; and
b. Instruct a lawyer to prepare a will and/or enduring power of attorney.
These resources are designed to be used by people with intellectual impairments together with their family and or other supportive people. They have been developed as a way of realising the right of people with disability to be supported to exercise their capacity, consistent with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability. More information about the resources can be obtained from Disability Law Queensland. We would like to thank the Department of Justice and Attorney General for providing the funding to develop the resources.
