Let your creative side bloom at our flower arranging workshop
Have fun and get creative at our flower arranging workshop. This workshop will now take place on Tuesday 9 May at the Mamre Windsor community hub. It’s going to be a brilliant event filled with laughter, floral arrangements and fun. EveryBUDy is welcome! Only a few spaces are still available so email [email protected] to come along. You can use your core support funding to cover the event costs.
Helpful free tool: consent choice cards
We know the importance of making our own choices. To help with this we’ve created a range of consent choice cards for you to use. Consent choice cards may assist you or someone you know to have a say about things that are important to you or them, like consenting to work with a new service provider or choosing a support worker. Whether you're one of our customers, a community member, support worker, coordinator or therapist, this card sheet is a useful communication tool to have on hand! Download your copy today from our resources page.
Rosie's seal of approval
Animal lover Rosie and her support worker Ashlee had a fun-filled adventure at Sea Life. With her love of water, swimming and animals, Sea Life was a big hit with Rosie. Both her and Ash’s highlight was the seal show - it was so good, they saw it twice! Rosie is a long-time customer of Mamre, having been with us since she was two years old. Thanks so much for sharing your photos Rosie and Ash, and telling us about your amazing time! Read more about Rosie and Ash's Sea Life adventure here.

Boredom-busting colouring book
Looking for a new holiday activity? Download our Easter colouring book for hours of fun! We'd love to display your art at our reception so feel free to send it to [email protected] or bring it along next time you visit our Windsor office.
Lifetime supply of jellybeans
A big congrats to Emily and Ashley for their winning guesses in our Guess the Jellybeans competition at the Brisbane Disability Connection Expo. Emily won the jar and all its yummy contents with her phenomenal guess of 3605 jellybeans (only 21 off the actual number), while runner-up Ashley took home a Mamre goodies giftbag. Thanks to everyone who stopped by at the expo to have a chat with the Mamre team. We'll be at the Source Kids Disability Expo in July, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Home sweet SIL home
Arcola House, our Aspley SIL house, has two modern and spacious rooms available! If you’re wanting to gain more independence and move into a SIL house, take a look at Arcola House. We prioritise matching housemates not only by their support needs, but by who they are, what they like and how they want to live. Arcola House is already home to an amazing housemate, a courteous and respectful woman who loves animals and has a very special pet parrot. She's a non-smoker who enjoys jigsaw puzzles, board games and spending time in the garden. If Arcola House sounds like your kind of place, email our intake team to set up a tour or visit Mamre's SIL page for more information.
Farewell Chloe!
We recently said goodbye to our wonderful occupational therapy student Chloe. It was an absolute pleasure having her as part of the team and, as sad as we were to see her go, we predict a brilliant future OT in Chloe. All the team and our customers agree that she was a great asset and we wish her all the best in completing her studies at The University of Queensland.

Staff Spotlight

Maddy is a crucial part of our amazing operations team. She makes sure information is up-to-date and accurate in our systems. Maddy also helps ensure our customers receive the support they need with the support workers they prefer. “My favourite part about being with Mamre is when customers receive the supports they need to live a meaningful life in their community. I also love hearing about our customers' life wins.”
Ashlee has been a support worker at Mamre for six years and you will have seen her in Rosie's story above. Her strong belief in creating a world where people with disabilities are welcomed, and have access to all the activities and places that bring them joy, inspired her to work in the disability sector. “This role has taught me so much about the world and how it is slowly but surely adapting to create an environment in which the people we support can flourish.”
40 years of creating good lives together
Mamre is one of Brisbane's longest-serving not-for-profit disability support providers. This year we're celebrating a big milestone: 40 years of supporting people with disability to live the life they choose, how they choose. Stay tuned for more details! If you have a special Mamre memory you'd like to share with our community, please email our marketing team. We'd love to hear from you!
Never stop believing
On a final note, our CEO Jillian was fortunate to recently have the chance to hear former US President Barack Obama speak. He spoke about leadership, the international landscape and its connection to grass roots community action. Many of the things he spoke about resonated with Jillian and she wanted to share her favourite quote: “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change we seek. Never stop believing in the power of your ideas, your imagination and your hard work to change the world.”
