Celebrating 40 years of Mamre
Thank you to everyone who came along and joined us on Saturday 12 August to celebrate 40 years of service to the Mamre community at our 40th Fun Fair. It was a great day filled with laughter and fun, with many friendships formed. Highlights for the day included the face painting, balloon twisting, crafts, karaoke, a performance from Flipside Circus, Bluey meet & greets and seeing our community come together once more! Read more about the event here.
This day wouldn't have been possible without our generous partners, donors and sponsors who helped make the event such a success.
The celebration was a true high point for Mamre this year and we hope everyone who came along had an amazing time. Our team loved chatting, getting to know and celebrating with our community guests. It really showed the power of the Mamre community and we look forward to holding more wonderful events soon, including our much loved Community Christmas Party with Santa (and photos) on Saturday 18 November. Support Star Award
I firmly believe our success at Mamre is a direct result of our team’s dedication. To acknowledge and celebrate our hard-working support workers, we’ve launched a new Support Star Award. Presenting the inaugural award at our 40th event, I shared how the three nominees exemplify Mamre’s values in their work:
- Sandra takes the lead in getting great outcomes for customers she works with. Since joining Mamre in 2015, she’s worked with one family and we receive regular and positive feedback from them about her hospitality. Sandra goes above and beyond by providing essential care with day-to-day coordination and planning with the family. Her consistent engagement and commitment to this family has ensured that our customer can remaining living in her family home with her mother.
- Jamie is the kind of support worker who can work effectively with any customer or family. He has consistently demonstrated that he is adaptable and accommodating of all ages, genders and support needs. With his wonderful ability to develop trust and rapport quickly, Jamie makes new customers feel at ease with supports and makes their transition to receiving formal supports less daunting.
- Kylie joined the Mamre team this year to be part of our Supported Independent Living house, Arcola House in Aspley. We’ve been humbled by her commitment to Mamre despite some challenges, and her integrity and patience. Since its opening, Kylie has shown great initiative to getting the house off to a good start and actively engaging our customers in discussions about their new home.

Well done to the nominees and congratulations to Sandra, our first winner (who you can see in the photo as I present her award). Stay tuned to find out the nominees and winner of next quarter’s Support Star Award!
