At Mamre, we’re proud to support people to create their version of a good life, no matter what that is. We’re pleased to say the idea for the Mamre crafting group came from Elisha, one of our supported people. Elisha loves making fabulous jewellery and was keen to share her passion with others through a jewellery-making workshop, which she ran at Mamre’s Community Hub. This workshop was so successful that one of our other support people, Terry, wanted to join in the fun and host a card-making workshop. And with those two workshops, our core crafting group was created. We’ve now hosted three crafting workshops and are looking forward to doing more in the future!
Memory wire bracelets
On June 7 we hosted our first event in our rejuvenated kitchen, or as we’ve named it – the Community Hub. A great group gathered to make some amazing memory wire bracelets, with Elisha from the Hippie Bead Co guiding us all through the process. Elisha was so excited to share her passion for jewellery making with the group and did an amazing job leading us. Everyone left with a gorgeous memory wire bracelet they designed and made themselves.
Cardmaking
After being postponed twice due to lockdowns, we were finally able to get together on September 6 for our card-making workshop. We had a huge turnout with many people leaving with two or three cards on the day to share with their friends and family. We saw a lot of Christmas-themed cards getting made as well! Thank you, Terry, for guiding us through the workshop! It was wonderful to see everyone get into the spirit and not only did we see some amazing cards made, but we also saw some beautiful memories and friendships develop right before our eyes.

Painting
On Thursday, September 30, our crafters come back together for a free painting workshop at the Mamre Community Hub. We had our largest crafting group yet lead by Terry and Elisha. The group had a brilliant time and we saw lots of fun, colourful paintings come to life and some beautiful friendships bloom. Check out some pictures from the day below!
